David Alvarez
Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder

David Alvarez brings a wealth of financial experience to the company he co-founded. As the former President and Vice-Chairman of Providian Financial, one of the largest credit card issuers worldwide, he was instrumental in its rapid growth between 1990 and 2001. Providian Financial was recently sold to Washington Mutual for $6.45 billion. Mr. Alvarez has over eight years with profit and loss responsibility, and has delivered greater than 25% compound annual growth rate in profits, culminating in more than $2 billion pre-tax profits in 2000. He has successfully brought hundreds of new products to market through new distribution channels. Mr. Alvarez holds both BA and MA degrees from Stanford University.

Mitchell A. Shapiro
Chief Operating Officer & Co-Founder

Mitchell A. Shapiro has more than 20 years in the financial services and technology industries, and was founder and CEO of two prior companies, StreetScience, Inc., an international technology and management consultancy to premier financial services organizations, and MetaExchange, a web-based consumer marketplace. Mr. Shapiro was previously one of the early employees of what is now known as Tibco Software, delivering market-changing technology to trading floors around the world. Previous experience includes work in Artificial Intelligence for Texas Instruments, Teknowledge, and IBM. Mr. Shapiro received his BS degree from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.

Chris Zaino
Vice President, Operations & Chief Compliance Officer

Chris Zaino is a former Vice President at Providian Financial and has over a decade of experience in consumer financial services. At Providian, Mr. Zaino led the company’s Product Development Test Center which launched numerous products, as well as Providian’s e-commerce business in 2000. Mr. Zaino also led, grew, and restructured various operational, project management, and business relationship departments, supporting and enabling the company’s expansive growth. Mr. Zaino brings expertise in building products, processes, capabilities, and organizations. Mr. Zaino holds both BS and MA degrees from Stanford University.

Adriana Eiriz
Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

Adriana Eiriz is an 18 year veteran of the US Hispanic market, and was the first Latin American female to be elected to the Board of Directors of the Electronic Retailing Association (ERA).  Her leadership at Lexicon Marketing, was instrumental in the launch of several new products leading to the rapid growth of the company. Ms. Eiriz' expertise lead her to successfully spearhead other key Hispanic DR and retail initiatives at Latin Links, Inc. positioning at retail the first US Hispanic initiative for Buena Vista Games (BVG), part of The Walt Disney Company, launching Spanish children’s software titles for USA, Mexico and Puerto Rico. At Vivar Advertising, as Managing Director she was responsible for all of the agency's strategic initiatives and US Hispanic-specific communication strategies with best-practice direct response principles. Former Chair of ERAs U.S.Hispanic Council and Education Committee.

Jamie Buckley
Vice President, Sales & Service

Jamie Buckley has more than 20 years experience in the financial services and technology sectors, and was most recently a Senior Director at Apple Inc. where he led the Telesales division for Online Store in North America. Mr. Buckley was previously the Senior Vice President of Sales & Service at Providian and helped fuel the aggressive portfolio growth between 1989 and 2002. Previous experience includes customer-facing management roles at both Bank of America, and Citibank, where he led Customer Service for the credit card division. Buckley has written two books on customer service and sales, “Customer Magic,” and “Customer Magic Two”.

Freddie Seba
Vice President, Business Development

Freddie Seba has held a variety of corporate and entrepreneurial positions utilizing his multilingual and multicultural background. Mr. Seba has over 20 years business experience working with Latin American and Mexican nationals in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Seba directed a $400 million US-based operation focused in Latin America and Mexico. Mr. Seba's work at large multinationals includes Ingram Micro Inc. and Epson America Inc.; his startup experience includes Print-Nation and Pontiva. He has also lectured at Stanford University's Continuing Studies, worked as business plan judge at the Yale School of Management-National Business Plan Competition and mentored at the Yale Entrepreneurial Society. He has been a guest speaker at the University of San Francisco and Stanford's Latin American Entrepreneurship Society.   Mr. Seba is currently Board of Director of HispanicNet, a Silicon Valley based organization created and chartered by Hispanic entrepreneurs, business executives and senior professionals in High-Tech/Software/Internet related companies which main objectives are to encourage and support Hispanic entrepreneurship. Mr. Seba holds a BA degree from the Universidad Santa Maria, a Masters in Business Administration from Yale University, and an MA degree from Stanford University.

Mitch DeShields has over 20 years of technical development experience. As an independent consultant, his client list includes IBM, Netscape, Autodesk, Ask Jeeves, Go/Eo, Network Appliance, and Compaq. Mr. DeShields holds a BS degree from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.

Doug Carlisle
Menlo Ventures

Doug joined Menlo Ventures in 1982. Prior to Menlo Ventures, he worked as a design engineer at ROLM Corporation. At Menlo, Mr. Carlisle focuses primarily on information technology companies. His recent investments and board seats include: A4Vision, Adomo, DriveCam, ePAC, FutureTrade Technologies, IntelliDOT Corporation, IronPort Systems, LiveOps, Nexxo, nLight Photonics, Open Solutions (OPEN) and ProfitLine. His prior investments and board seats include: Carrier Access Corporation (CACS); Cyras Systems, acquired by CIENA Corp. (CIEN); Efficient Networks (EFNT); Hotmail, acquired by Microsoft (MSFT); Kalpana, acquired by Cisco (CSCO); and Pyxis, acquired by Cardinal Health (CAH). Greg Sands
Sutter Hill Ventures

Greg Sands joined Sutter Hill Ventures in 1998 from Netscape Communications. As the company's original product manager, he co-authored the company's original business plan and launched and shipped its initial products, working closely with both engineering and sales. Mr. Sands then created and led the SuiteSpot business unit, growing it from $0 to $150M. He also worked previously at Cisco Systems, where he was the architect of a global channel management plan, and at Corporate Decisions (now Mercer Management Consulting), where he consulted to start-ups and Fortune 500 companies on product development and marketing strategies.
Mr. Sands serves as a director for Merced Systems, QuinStreet, Return Path and Valista. Mr. Sands is also responsible for Sutter Hill's investment in Feedburner. Prior investments include Closed Loop (subsequently sold to Lawson Software).
Mr. Sands is a trustee of the Stanford University DAPER Fund. He also co-founded, and is a director of the non-profit Start Up, a microenterprise program for entrepreneurs and small business owners in underprivileged communities. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Stanford Business School Trust. He earned an AB in government from Harvard College in 1989 and received an MBA at Stanford in 1994.

Tench Coxe
Sutter Hill Ventures

Tench Coxe joined the Sutter Hill Ventures in 1987 following his tenure with Digital Communications Associates in Atlanta, where he managed T-1 products and directed internal MIS and marketing. Previously, Mr. Coxe worked with Lehman Brothers in New York City, where he was a corporate financial analyst specializing in mergers and acquisitions as well as debt and equity financing.
His current directorships include Artisan Partners, Ceon, eLoyalty, FaceTime Communications, NVidia and Ruckus Wireless. He was also responsible for the firm's investment in Alteon Networks, @mobile, Avant!, Edify, Legato, Lynk Systems, Network Appliance, Grand Junction, NCD, OnStream Networks, Synernetics, Primary Access, and XcelleNet.
Mr. Coxe graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in economics. He earned his MBA in 1984 from Harvard University's Graduate School of Business. Mr. Coxe holds a Board Observer seat on the Nexxo Board.

Jim Elliott
WBC Financial Group

Jim Elliott has 30 years of experience in the financial institutions sector and is a principal of WBC Financial Group, which provides consulting services to banks, thrifts, other financial services companies and companies entering a financial services line of business. Before joining WBC, he was successively General Counsel, Executive Vice President for European operations, and member of the Board of Directors of Providian Corporation. As a member of the Board he chaired the Marketing Committee and served as a member of the Audit Committee.
As Executive Vice President, he launched Providian’s U.K. credit card business and built it to over $500 million in assets. In the U.S. with Providian and its predecessor, First Deposit, he served as General Counsel, first of the Bank and then of the combined holding company.
Prior to joining Providian, Mr. Elliott was in private practice of law in Washington, D.C. for eight years. In his legal practice, Mr. Elliott represented financial institutions of all sizes before the regulatory agencies and in Federal Court.
From 1974 to 1981 Mr. Elliott served with the Comptroller of the Currency first as Senior Trial Attorney and then as Director of the agency's Bank Organization and Structure Division.
Mr. Elliott is a graduate of Duke University (BA) and the University of California, Berkeley (JD).
